My Little Gymnast

My Little Gymnast

I walked by the counter last night as I was cleaning the supper dishes and Olivia was doing her homework. She was working on spelling. You remember fourth grade spelling–they give you words and you have to write them three times each, write a definition and use them in a sentence. One of the words for this week is “possible.” She looks up and says, “Mom, isn’t this a good sentence,’anything is possible in my world.’?” I told her it was a FANTASTIC, AWESOME sentence–and a true one, too!
In my post the other day, I mentioned a conversation I had with her about her new beam routine and how she was afraid to try the cartwheel off the beam. She didn’t want to fall. I also said she tried it and did fall at her first competition, but then stuck it at her next. Well, this Saturday, she had a bigger competition over at Rhode Island College. She fell off the beam during her cartwheel. But, she got up and finished it. She redeemed herself by doing an unbelievable floor routine which I would post if I were not technologically impaired (story for another post).
My point is that she didn’t give up. Beam was first in the rotation, so her confidence was down. She wasn’t perfect on bars either, but she was respectable on vault and fabulous on floor. She kept her head up and finished what she started. I am so proud that she was STILL able to bring home three medals(would have been proud if she brought home none).
So, even though this post has nothing to do with my store ‘proper’, the concept behind it has everything to do with it-“Everything is possible in my world.” I haven’t had much traffic to the store and I haven’t sold anything yet. But, I’m not giving up.
Oh, and one more thing, our kids really DO listen to us when we talk. I have had so many discussions with our kids about that very issue. I think I told you that our family mantra is, ” I Will”, never “I Can’t.” It’s rewarding to see that all my motherly jabbering pays off sometimes. They listen to us when we talk. Maybe we should listen a little more to them a little more often. Happy Shopping:)
